Diary of a Black Boy aims to chart the stories of young black men growing up in Britain.  For too long the media, educational institutions, police and the British public have pathologised and catastrophised the story and the lives of Black boys and men in Britain by what is fast becoming a self fulfilling prophecy.  This site therefore aims to offer a refreshing corrective by publishing their stories.

This site will offer stories from boys, young and older men, stories of triumph through adversity, stories of courage, pain and change, truth tales from which it is hoped others will learn, be inspired, change or keep on track.  Diary of a Black Boy will also offer useful links to organisations which offer support and hope to black males, their parents/carers, families, friends and all people who like me care about the future (and presence) of the African Caribbean Community.

I dedicate this web site to my beautiful, loved and cherished son Daniel who through life’s challenges has still managed to triumph through adversity.  You are wonderful - I love you dearly.

Additionally this site is for the many sons of mothers, brothers, grandsons and great-grandsons and fathers be you teachers, trainers, mechanics, waiters, students, musicians, doctors, youth workers, carers - it is hoped Diary of a Black Boy will give us a window to your world and inspire your life.
